DASH News Sept 11 – Wednesday Middle School Meet, High School Picnic

Hello DASH Homeschool families,

Our next middle school meet is this Wednesday at Grant Park in South Milwaukee. This is a beautiful course with lake views. It is also a very spectator friendly course, but running shoes are still recommended for all DASH fans to help assure keeping up with all the exciting racing.

Arrive 3:30 to warm up and scout the course.
4:30 – 7th and under girls race
4:55 – 7th and under boys race
5:25 – 8th grade girls race
5:55 – 8th grade boys race

Directions: From I-94 exit at College Ave. Go east on College about 4.5 miles. Turn right onto Lake Drive. Go to the stop sign. Turn left into Grant Park. Follow the park road to Picnic Areas #5 and #6. We will set up northwest of the finish line by some trees and picnic tables.

I will have a MONDAY PRACTICE this week, 6:15 at Greenfield Park. No practice on Tuesday. I will also practice on Thursday, 6:15 at Greenfield Park. Everyone is welcome, no matter how big, no matter how old, no matter how fast. (As you can see, I am feeling the need to use alliteration this week. Maybe it’s a homeschooling thing. I am the English teacher at Caspers’ Christian Academy, one of the biggest DASH feeder schools. That may explain it.)

High school meet next Saturday, Sept. 18, at Franklin High School. Details on the DASH Team Calendar, and in a separate email soon.

I picked up a pair of spikes at the meet last Thursday. They were left in a bag right by the tree we settled around. If nobody claims them from DASH, I will work on finding their rightful owner elsewhere.

The Westendorf’s would like to invite the high school families to a family picnic on Sunday, Sept. 26. We can meet at 4:00, go for a run about 4:15 – that’s what the DASH team does when it gets together, and have a meal at 5:00. Bring a dish to pass. After the meal we can have an evening enjoying each others company by a bonfire. I have the details on the DASH Calendar and below. Please RSVP Carol Westendorf by Sept. 23rd. I hope to see you there.

Just a reminder that we are still accepting donations for the DASH team; $20 middle school, $30 high school, $75 family max is suggested. See Maura Heiss if you are interested in selling Boston Store coupons.

Take care,
Jim Caspers
