Hello DASH families,

It is time to see our middle school team race. We have middle school meets on Monday at Lake Denoon School in Muskego Map, and on Wednesday at Grant Park in South Milwuakee Map.  We should have a good team this year.  It will be exciting to get the season going.

We also have a high school meet at Franklin High School next Saturday morning Map. Let’s hope we have better weather for this meet than last year. Unless, of course, you like to run in the mud.

I am going to cancel practice for the middle school team on Tuesday because of the meets.  For the high schoolers, Tuesday’s practice will be moved to Hart Park, 6:15,  to run some hills. The high school team is running on some tough courses and we need to get a good hill workout in. I will be holding a Thursday practice for everyone at Greenfield Park, 6:15.

I hope to see you all this week.  Until then…

Take care,
Jim Caspers

Hello DASH families,

The high school cross country team competed last Saturday in the Waukesah South Blackshirt Challenge at Minooka Park. It was a humid day on a tough course. We were joined by the Homeschool Eagle team for the first time which is a great addition to our small team.

The girls got us started. Emily Caspers paced the DASH team as she has so many times before. Sarah Pfeiffle kept Emily in her sights the whole way in an impressive run. Freshman Kaitlyn Hillman, Siobhan Heiss, and Kristin Ulfeng all competed in their first high school races to complete the DASH team scoring. The girls gained much needed experience and I think we can expect them to keep improving as the season goes along.

Kenny Hillman stayed near the leaders throughout in the boys race to finish 12th overall. Kenny races to win and it will be fun to keep track of his results this season. Freshman Aaron Vogel was next for the DASH team. He showed his vast potential, and ran a very smart first race. DASH veteran Zachary Marek got his season off to a good start with some hard running, and Freshman Zeb Caspers learned what it takes to finish a high school race with his effort.

The day was capped off with Kenny Hillman being awarded a t-shirt at the awards ceremony for his 12 place finish. Photos  We had a big group of DASH fans, including many of our middle school athletes, show up to cheer on the runners making it a lot of fun to be racing again. Our team was going to be small this year, so it is quite a blessing to be able to team up with the Eagles this season. We will do it again this Friday. I hope to see you there.

Take care,
Jim Caspers

Hello DASH families,

I have the middle school schedule posted. We are in some good meets again this year as we look to build on the great results of last year.  The middle school season is just eight days away which gives us one more week to practice hard.

We have another high school meet this Friday at UW-Whitewater. It will be on an easier course than yesterday’s meet. We will again join with the Homeschool Eagles team.  I have room in my van if someone would like to carpool. I have the results and photos from yesterday’s meet online as well as Tuesday’s team run results. I will have a meet report soon.

There is a middle school meet this Saturday at noon at Washington Park in Milwaukee after a high school meet.  I had a few athletes participate in this meet a few years ago and we had fun.  You can wear your DASH jersey, but I am not listing it as an official DASH meet.  Come if you can.  We could meet at my house afterwards for a cookout if there is interest.  I live very close by.

If you have not paid your team donation, now is the time.  The meet fees are all coming due.  If you have sold any Boston Store coupons we need to have a count by this Thursday.   You can turn in your money at practice.  If you need to purchase a middle school jersey I will have them at practices again this week.

This is where the season starts to really get fun.  We have been practicing hard.  We have gotten fast.  It is time to race!

Take care,
Jim Caspers
