DASH High School Track 2013 Oak Creek Meet Report

Hello DASH families,

The DASH high school boys team was seen at Oak Creek High School yesterday. It was an absolutely perfect day to compete, and the boys ran to many season-best times. We also got an unexpected cameo appearance from DASH star Amelie Kemmann in the middle of the meet which kept the DASH fans on their feet throughout.

Zebulon Caspers got the day started by throwing the shot put for the first time. He threw it over 27 feet in a strong effort. Shortly after Jacob Dickman and Ransom Nyhart lined up for the 1600 meter race. Jacob stayed with the lead pack in a fast first lap, before taking control of the race, winning with a season-best time of 5:08. Ransom, in his first race of the year, moved up on the last lap to earn a third place finish with a great time of 5:19. Earlier some St. Catherine girls were spotted running in the 100 meter race, giving the DASH fans the idea of having Amelie Kemmann, who was there to cheer the boys on, suit up and show off her paces. After a little coaxing, Amelie appeared wearing DASH yellow ready to compete in the 400 meters. She paced herself early before showing off her finishing speed. She was the first girl in and the clock had her timed at 1:05.6, good for a new DASH record! The DASH fans were hardly done cheering as Zebulon Caspers lined up for the 800 meters. Zeb ran a fast first lap and never let up, finishing with a time of 2:30. Then without any break, Zeb headed to the 200 meter start and ran that in 27.27, coming in 2nd in his heat. The 3200 meters was next and Jacob Dickman was our man. In a very tactical race, Jacob jockeyed for position with three Oak Creek athletes. In the end Jacob was the second athlete to cross the finish line with an impressive time of 11:22. Another day of great DASH racing was in the books.

Thanks go out to all the DASH fans for cheering on the boys and helping to get Amelie in uniform. Thanks to Kenli Couppee for getting Ransom to run, calling it an early Mother’s Day gift. Thanks to Pete Dickman for calling out splits and helping with the coaching. Thanks to DASH fan and photographer Zipporah Caspers for capturing the meet in photos. This exciting team still has but one meet left. I hope to see you there.

Take care,
Jim Caspers
